Hand painted porcelain Chantilly double ink well. Marked on the back with the signature Chantilly makers mark "the red horn", it also is marked - Made in France. Chantilly porcelain is a French soft-paste porcelain that was produced between 1730 and 1800 by the manufactory of Chantilly in Oise, France. There are NO cracks, chips or repairs on this piece.
The only minor thing I found was a spot where the paint is missing on the letter press but it's NOT a chip (see 5th pic close up). The ink well measures approximately 7 (including handles) in diameter x approx.
4.25 tall (to the top of the finials on each ink well). The ormolu accents add a nice touch to this gem. In some cases, photos are enlarged to show detail. One ink well is missing the inside ink cup. Also, one of the ink well hinges is loose. The pin isn't in quite right or it might need a replacement. Please see photos for reference. I haven't attempted to clean it. Some collector's prefer to care for items the way they want to. I'm perfectly fine with that. A great addition to any collection. Mailing is done ONCE per week and day varies depending on orders.
