Antique 19th C Pair Of French Sevres Urns Ormolu Porcelain 20.75 Signed Granet
Antique 19th century pair of stunning urns with bronze mounted finials, handles and base, blue cobalt field with gilt highlights and hand painted classical courting scenes. Both signed Granet (1775 - 1849). Bears the authentic Sevres crossed double L (double Luis XV) mark with a D inside, at the bottom. Height: 20 3/4 (53 cm) tall from base to tip of ormolu mount on top of lid. Width: 9 (23 cm) at widest point. Base: 5 (13 cm) x 5 (13 cm). Weight: 7 lb 5 oz the painted with the lady w/umbrella and 6 lb 14 oz the one with the lady without umbrella. The previous owner glued the lids and they cannot be twisted to separate them from the body. 0therwise the urns are in excellent condition. Please see pictures as they are the best description (any white spots are reflections from the flash light). Those artwork are museum pieces. Collecting Sevres Porcelain is probably one of the best investments you could make. A whole room of the museum is dedicated to Granet whose personal collection formed the original basis of the Museum.
