DESCRIPTION / CONDITION / PROVENANCE. An innovative artist, Pierre-Auguste Renoir was born on February 25, 1841, in Limoges, France. He started out as an apprentice to a porcelain painter and studied drawing in his free time. After years as a struggling painter, Renoir helped launch an artistic movement called Impressionism in 1870s.
He eventually became one of the most highly regarded artists of his time. He died in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France, in 1919. Piece titled " Femme au Cep de Vigne " c. 1904, this work is one of 12 lithographs entitled L'Album des Douze Lithographies Originales de Pierre-Auguste Renoir.Printed by Auguste Clot, Paris and published by Ambroise Vollard, this piece is signed on the stone'Renoir' in the lower right corner as well as titled on the left. (see photos) This piece is from the edition of #1000 printed on wove paper. There is also what appears to be a gallery info card and catalogue number attached to the back of the piece. (see photos) Unfortunately we do not have a COA or appraisal paperwork for this piece. The condition of this piece is very nice, it was well taken care of by the previous owner. The previous owner was a very high end, wealthy collector, who traveled to Europe often, and brought back many beautiful, unique pieces..
